Chicago South Area

Steve MirskyChicago IL Area

A storm system will move from the Southern Plains Saturday into Central Illinois Sunday. This area of low pressure will weaken as it moves northeast which means there will not be a great deal of precipitation for our area. Nonetheless, some snow will occur here from late Saturday night into Sunday morning. In addition, temperatures Sunday will climb above freezing. Thus, there will probably only be a minor slushy accumulation of under one inch on the pavement. Elevated surfaces and areas shaded from the sun, such as north sides of buildings, will probably see the most accumulation. As temperatures drop back below freezing Sunday night there may be a freeze-back on untreated surfaces.

High Saturday 38, low Saturday night 31. High Sunday 36.

The map below is for snow accumulation on grassy surfaces. On the pavement the snowfall amounts will be less.
