Weather Update 12Noon Sunday Feb 27

Jeff MendelsonWestern New York

Good Afternoon:

Here is a quick weather forecast update….

Scattered snow showers (and possibly a brief snow squall) are expected from about 2PM through 8PM.

Temps will be around 33 through this afternoon, dropping back into the 20s by 7PM.

While the latest current computer forecast guidance has “backed off” in terms of coverage and intensity of the snow showers, the possibility still exists for a quick quarter to around a half inch where the heaviest snow activity passes through.

Strong gusty winds through mid afternoon will blow the snow around and result in reduced visibilities with some difficult driving conditions at times.

Local roads, bridges/overpasses, small parking lots, driveways and sidewalks will become slippery (and probably a little bit snow covered) in many spots. Main roads and highways will become a bit wet and very slick and slippery.

As temps drop through the 20s later this evening, any wet spots will be freezing up, so watch out for patchy ice overnight and into Monday morning (with temps dropping to around 13 by daybreak Monday).

Much of Monday should be mainly dry (with highs near or around 25-26).

Another fast moving weather system will approach late Monday evening and should pass JUST off to our north Monday night, but should be close enough to brush the region with a little bit of light snow and possibly accumulate near, or somewhere on either side of, a quarter inch. We’ll update you further on this tomorrow.

If there are any questions, let us know. Thx!
